Owen Hunn, P.E.

Owner & Principal Engineer

Owen is the founder and principal engineer of Aspen Wall Design, bringing over 25 years of expertise in geotechnical engineering and geogrid solutions. A graduate of the University of Missouri – Rolla, he is passionate about delivering precise, high-quality designs to Aspen’s clients.

Outside of work, Owen enjoys camping, fishing, and hiking with his wife Ashley and their four children. His ultimate goal? To one day hike the entire Appalachian Trail.

Our History

(1985-1990)

Founding and Early Years

Aspen Environmental Consultants, Inc. was founded in 1985 by Harold Bade. Initially, the company specialized in erosion control products and consulting, providing the construction and engineering community with best practices and product development solutions. By 1990, this effort was phased out as the company explored new opportunities.

Expansion into Modular Block Wall Design

In 1995, Aspen shifted focus to modular block wall design, operating under the name Aspen Consultants. The goal was to establish engineering services tailored to contractors, emphasizing timely responses, sound engineering, and on-site support. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, modular block walls gained popularity as a cost-effective retaining wall solution, optimizing site development and expediting construction timelines.

Aspen quickly became a trusted partner for specialty wall contractors, offering designs for commercial shopping centers, residential subdivisions, and transportation projects. A notable achievement was providing retaining wall designs for seven phases of the Metrolink project. The company’s expertise was in high demand, leading to licensing in 13 states and an impressive output of over 300 projects annually. Aspen’s reputation for delivering cost-effective designs and on-site support solidified its standing in the industry.

New Leadership and National Expansion

In 2012, Aspen was acquired by Randy Davis at F3. The team, including Ed Austin and staff, joined SINEWALL to focus on MSE panel wall design and manufacturing on a national scale.

In the spring of 2023, Aspen Engineering was sold to Owen Hunn, P.E., and rebranded as Aspen Wall Design. Despite the name change, the company remains an industry leader in wall design. In recent years, Aspen Wall Design has successfully designed walls in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and Mississippi, with licensure in several additional states and ongoing expansion efforts.
